Battle for round 4, table 9
Battle plan: Midwinter Massacre
Set up two objectives in opposite quarters as shown above. Central point represents the ‘present drop’ location to be used in the Twist.
Players take turns picking alternative deployment zones for their hammer, dagger and shield groups. The winner of a dice roll-off goes first.
Primary
At the end of each battle round, players score 1 victory point for each of the following that are true:
- 1 enemy fighter is taken down that round
- 2 or more enemy fighters are taken down that round
- More enemy fighters than friendly fighters were taken down that round.
Secondary
At the end of each battle round, players score 1 victory point for each objective they control.
Twist
At the start of each battle round, each player places 1 treasure on the battlefield, starting with the player who wins initiative that round. The treasures are scattered 2D6” in a random direction, from the ‘present drop’ in the centre of the battlefield.
These treasures can be picked up by any fighter during a move action in which the fighter moves within 1” of the treasure. The treasure is then removed from the battlefield.
All treasures are removed from the battlefield at the end of each round, regardless of whether or not they have been picked up.
A player scores one prize point (separate to victory points) for each treasure they pick up during the course of the battle. If a player gathers enough, they can exchange prize points for a gift from the Festive Crimson Hobgoblin ™ at the end of the tournament.
Victory Condition
The battle ends after 4 rounds. The player with the most victory points wins the battle. Any other result is a draw.
